Sharjah Police’s Three-Year Anti-Drug Campaign Yields Major Results

In a substantial victory against drug trafficking, Sharjah Police have successfully seized narcotics worth Dhs392.8 million over a three-year span, from 2023 to 2025. This operation was part of a broader strategy to bolster community safety and enhance regional security. A total of 11,551,206 psychotropic tablets and 3,386,901 grams of various narcotics were confiscated during this period, demonstrating the effectiveness of the police force’s strategic efforts in combating drug-related crimes.

Comprehensive Approach to Drug Prevention

Under the leadership of Lieutenant General Abdullah Mubarak Bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, the force has adopted an integrated national framework to address the drug menace. This includes implementing strict legislation, increasing prevention efforts, and fostering community partnerships. The success of these initiatives is a testament to the UAE’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens from drug-related harm.

“Confronting the scourge of drugs is a shared national and societal responsibility,” stated Lieutenant General Bin Amer. He emphasized the necessity of collaboration among institutions, families, and individuals to promote awareness and prevention, reinforcing partnerships with relevant organizations.

Innovative Strategies and Technological Advancements

The Directorate of Drug Prevention and Control within Sharjah Police has developed a dynamic work system that adapts to emerging security challenges. Supported by cutting-edge technology and skilled personnel, this system has proven effective in addressing future threats. These efforts were highlighted during the “Protecting the Individual, Preserving Society” forum, organized to coincide with the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking.

The forum was attended by key figures, including Sheikh Majid Bin Sultan Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Judge Dr. Mohammed Obaid Al Kaabi, and other dignitaries and officials from various government and strategic partner entities. Their presence underscored the importance of a unified approach to drug prevention.

Awareness and Prevention Programs Reach Millions

Between 2023 and 2025, Sharjah Police launched 357 awareness programs, reaching over 5.6 million people through targeted media messages. Additionally, 328 family reports were processed, and 337 cases were managed through special containment programs, showcasing the extensive reach and impact of these initiatives.

These programs are part of a proactive strategy to curb drug abuse by educating the public about its dangers and promoting preventive measures.

Proactive Measures and Community Impact

Performance indicators reveal that Sharjah Police have blocked 3,160 websites promoting drugs and addressed 3,632 drug-related cases. This proactive approach has significantly disrupted smuggling and distribution networks, effectively reducing drug availability and curtailing sources.

The forum concluded with a ceremony to honor partners and supporting entities, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the national anti-drug efforts. This acknowledgment highlights the crucial role that collaboration and community involvement play in achieving long-term success in drug prevention.
