Big Heart Foundation Launches Comprehensive Educational Initiative

The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF) has initiated its 2026 Back to School Campaign, aiming to provide critical educational support to 3,000 students across Gaza, Egypt, and Sharjah. This initiative highlights TBHF’s commitment to equipping children with essential school supplies, thereby facilitating continuity in education amidst challenging circumstances such as economic hardship, conflict, or displacement.

Bridging Educational Gaps in Challenged Regions

Central to the campaign is the distribution of school bags filled with necessary learning materials and financial assistance for tuition at The Big Heart Educational Centre in Sharjah. This effort seeks to alleviate barriers to education for children in these regions, ensuring they have the fundamental tools to pursue their academic ambitions.

In Gaza, where conflict has significantly disrupted educational activities, the provision of school supplies is pivotal in maintaining a connection to learning. Meanwhile, in Egypt, these educational resources aim to bolster students’ preparedness as they embark on a new academic year. The initiative extends further with support for students in Sharjah, particularly those enrolled at The Big Heart Educational Centre, which offers both educational and vocational training opportunities for children from financially strained families.

Collaborative Efforts and Community Engagement

The campaign’s logistics involve significant collaboration with entities such as Fares Al Shahm, responsible for shipping supplies to Gaza, and Air Arabia, which facilitates shipments to Egypt. Meanwhile, City Centre Al Zahia, part of the Majid Al Futtaim group, has generously provided space for a four-day volunteer activation in Sharjah.

From August 20 to 23, community members, families, and organizations are invited to participate in a school-bag packing event at City Centre Al Zahia. This volunteer-driven initiative will occur daily from 10:00 to 23:00, offering a hands-on opportunity for participants to pack notebooks, stationery, and other educational materials.

Empowering Through Donations

Financial contributions play a crucial role in extending the reach and impact of this campaign. A donation of Dhs200 equips a student with a complete school bag and learning supplies, Dhs500 covers one month of tuition at The Big Heart Educational Centre, and a substantial Dhs7,000 can fund a student’s education for an entire academic year.

TBHF has streamlined the donation process, enabling UAE residents and international supporters to contribute easily. Donations start from as little as Dhs10, with e& and du users able to contribute via SMS with specific codes corresponding to different donation amounts. Additionally, supporters can donate through TBHF’s online platform or directly transfer funds to The Big Heart Foundation – Local Projects Fund at Sharjah Islamic Bank.

Voices of Support and Encouragement

Mariam Al Hammadi, Advisory Board Member of TBHF, emphasized the campaign’s significance, stating, “A child’s circumstances should never determine whether they have the basic tools to learn. For children in Gaza, educational supplies can preserve an important connection to learning amid profound disruption. For children in Egypt, a complete school bag can help them approach the academic year with greater preparedness and confidence.”

Echoing this sentiment, Abdulla Alblooshi, Associate Director, Portfolio Management, Sharjah Shopping Malls, Majid Al Futtaim, expressed pride in hosting the school-bag packing activation, highlighting the community’s role in transforming generosity into tangible support for students.

TBHF encourages widespread participation, calling on individuals, families, institutions, and organizations to contribute to this meaningful cause and play a role in shaping the educational futures of young learners in these regions.
